John D. Baker was born on February 8, 1952. He was raised in the small town of Stinesville, Indiana, located in Monroe County. John was raised in a strong Christian family. His parents were older when he was born, his mother was 43 and his father was 58. John was the youngest of 11 children. He spent many hours as a child listening to his father's quartet practice. It was there that he began to learn many of the great old gospel songs of the church.
John has spent the last 40 years traveling and using his talents to entertain a variety of crowds. Whether in a church setting, or outdoors at a festival like the Mansfield Covered Bridge Festival, his voice has been heard by thosands. His country-style sound, mixed with a southern splash, has been enjoyed by all age groups. No matter if it's an old gospel standard or favorite country song, John is sure to sing it right into your heart.
His ability to relate to all ages and people from all walks of life is something that John prides himself on. People feel drawn to his rich, clear voice. Many say they listen to his music every day.
John has been selling his music for over 20 years now, and he has chosen to keep the price the same as when he started. He hopes that even those on lower and fixed incomes are able to enjoy his music.
